Winona Health Family Medicine was recognized by Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) as a Better Performer in the areas of productivity, capacity, staffing and patient satisfaction. The recognition was based on information including financial data and patient satisfaction scores.
“Our goal is to provide the best possible care for our patients when they want it and at the lowest possible cost,” said William E. Davis, MD, and Winona Health Chief Medical Information Officer. “We are continually working to provide the best possible care by using evidence-based treatment and encouraging all of our staff to be involved in the care of each patient. We work to control costs by avoiding expensive medications and unnecessary testing, for example. And we focus on the needs and goals of our patients so they join with us in deciding on their care.”
The MGMA report, a benchmarking standard among medical groups for over a decade, was produced using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey: 2009 Reports Based on 2008 Data as well as data from a questionnaire that assessed management behaviors, practices and procedures of better performers. The mission of MGMA is to continually improve the performance of medical group practice professionals and the organizations they represent.
