Brea Veldboom, certified nurse practitioner (CNP), joined the Winona Health staff and will care for patients of all ages in the Family Practice Department. Nurse practitioners are clinical medical professionals who provide care in collaboration with a physician. They can examine patients, make a diagnoses, prescribe medications and provide education and treatment plans. Veldboom will see patients as part of a care team including E. Allen Beguin, MD, and Virginia Green, CNP.
Veldboom said she is looking forward to taking care of people of all ages. “I became a nurse practitioner because I want to connect with patients and help people be proactive about their health,” said Veldboom.
Veldboom received her Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner, from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis. and her RN from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Sport Science, Concentrations: Sports Medicine & Pre Medicine from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo. She has a special interest in sports medicine.
Veldboom’s prior experience includes caring for patients in rehabilitative care at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in Onalaska, Wis. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.
In her free time, Veldboom enjoys gardening and staying active with her husband and their yellow lab, Henry.
