"Helping to Create Peace of Mind"

Winona Health's Ethics Committee was formed in 1985 with current membership comprised of medical staff, chaplins, nurses, ancillary staff and community members.

Ethics Committee Mission

  • Ethics Education
  • Ethics Consultation
  • Ethics Policy and Guideline Development

Ethics Committee Vision

Promoting professional conduct and protecting and advocating for the rights and welfare of patients/residents is pre-eminent.

Ethics Committee Purpose

When requested, the Ethics Committee will provide patients, family and staff with consultation; to provide education and clarity of options regarding ethical care issues.

Whenever possible, ethical issues should be addressed by patients/residents and their families and physician. If resolution with families and the physician is not effective or satisfactory to the patient or resident, the Ethics Committee can help. Representatives of the Ethics Committee will meet to discuss the situation and recommend a plan of action. The committee's role is to consult, educate and advise.
