Winona Health’s Living Service Excellence Award is presented annually to outstanding staff who perform their jobs exceptionally well and exemplify our Service Excellence Standards. WH Living Service Excellence Award winners are chosen based on the nominees’ qualities as presented in the nomination form.
Here are the 2007 LSE Award winners and an excerpt from their nomination form:
Helen Bagshaw from ICU
"Helen is truly an anchor in customer service. She is patient centered in all that she does. For Helen, patient care is not on her agenda, but rather she allows the patient to make the agenda. Her patients always come first. She is often recognized in [patient] cards and words of thanks for her exceptional care. Helen sees the person in every patient and allows … them to direct their care as much as possible."
Dawn Martinson, Housekeeping
"Dawn always has a positive attitude and pleasant disposition. She communicates with the nursing staff any changes she notices in residents. Dawn never has idle hands, but somehow always finds time to stop in, greet and visit briefly with residents. Dawn obviously takes pride in a job well done; she’s conscientious in her cleaning; and, when thanked for her help with residents, she shrugs it off and humbly states, 'We’re all part of the same team.'"
Amy Pronschinske, Imaging
"Amy is a true leader in her department with her positive attitude and her 'let’s get the work done' attitude. Her strongest characteristic is her communication with her patients: She takes the time they need, offers support and comfort, and makes them feel as if they will be alright. Amy is always seen with a smile on her face ... She is a great team player and goes out of her way to help in any way she can."
Katie Peterson, Food & Nutrition
"Katie is a kind, super-organized, polite staff member. She is a self-motivator who sees work and does it. She always welcomes people to the cafeteria with a smile and asks how they are doing. Katie is an excellent trainer and goes out of her way to help other people. She is the perfect example of an employee every employer would like to clone!"
Brian Arendt, Information Systems
"Brian exemplifies … WH’s standards of integrity, service, loyalty and excellence. [He] genuinely cares about all individuals he comes in contact with and wants to make their workday better. He looks for ways to make every detail of every process more efficient and is willing to pitch in to make it happen. Brian … not only enjoys his work, but has the knowledge behind his interest which makes him extremely effective ... Brian loves being among people who share his values and wants to help the organization make a difference in the lives of so many people"
Holli Weiser, Lake Winona Manor
"Holli is a delight to work with, always positive and upbeat. She completely supports and is a wonderful example of the WH service standards ... She also holds those around her accountable for the standards … Recently, a LWM resident was upset because she was supposed to go on a cruise the week she arrived at LWM. I knew right away to call Holli: She planned a massage, hair appointment, manicure and special cruise supper for this resident and her family. I continue to be amazed and thankful for the amount of support Holli has shown us."
