Director of Surgical Services

The Director of Surgical Services is accountable for the leadership and management functions of Surgical Services. S/he is accountable for the day to day operational performance including but not limited to Pre-Anesthesia (PAA), Operating suites (ORs), Post-Anesthesia (PACU), Endoscopy Suite, Sterile Processing, and Pain Management departments consistent with WHS policies and procedures and accepted standards of practice. The Director of Surgical Services organizes, delegates, supports and facilitates activities within the assigned services and supports physician and nursing within each assigned department. Maintains active presence and availability across departments reporting to the position, and to the medical staff that provide services. Director will also develop and maintain positive relationships and interactions with other directors toward the enhancement of physician/provider, patient, and employee satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives. Director will identify and work with the administrative team to address clinical opportunities as well as respond to concerns that are negatively or positively contributing to the growth in the overall Surgical Services. Works with the medical staff structure to align clinical expectations and deliverables while overseeing the appropriate financial stewardship of the organization. Responsible for oversight and validation of each department's budget, maintaining financial accountability, while working with the VP, Patient Care/CNO, Service Line Leaders, and Director/Management Team to address areas of concern within clinically and financially driven performance measures. Responsible for the departmental compliance with strategic planning, fiscal responsibilities and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills: Post-secondary in related field of study. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Master's degree in Nursing, Business or related field. CPR Certification. RN License - MN. Minimum of 3 years of management experience. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions/concerns from groups of managers, patients, customers, etc. Must be able to engage medical, nursing, and anesthesia staff in the performance excellence process and strategic initiatives. Word. Excel. Outlook. Patient information database (Cerner, EMR, American Data). Familiar with Information Technology Systems.

Nonessential Skills: Knowledge and experience in Surgery business operations and leadership highly desirable.
