What is a hospitalist?

Hospitalists specialize in caring for patients while they are hospitalized. They work closely with each patient’s primary physician and care coordination teams made up of nurses, dieticians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff.

Winona Health’s hospitalist program was developed to provide more immediate physician access for its hospitalized patients and improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of hospital care.
