Please note: Our College Student Volunteer Program is full and we are not accepting new applications at this time. Please check back periodically for updates.

Volunteering at Winona Health is a great experience for students going into the medical field or for anyone interested in helping others.  We offer several volunteer opportunities specifically designed with students in mind.  Our program is not meant for the purpose of job/career training, nor is it meant to lead to paid employment. Applications for new student volunteers will be accepted at specific times of the year, with only a certain number accepted during each application period.  Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

  • Volunteers are stationed in the Emergency vestibule. They greet patients and assist them to the triage nurse in the order of arrival/need. The volunteer would also field questions and provide directions to urgent care, as well as monitoring the waiting room.

  • Volunteers in this service area provide support to the nursing staff in Winona Health’s Medical/Surgical/Pediatric area. The main purpose is to provide company and reassurance to patients and to maintain and continue to improve patient satisfaction. Duties include, Patient One-on-One’s, Patient Rounding and Clerical Assistance.

  • (Lake Winona Manor, Watkins Manor, Adith Miller Manor and Roger Metz Manor)
Manor volunteers have a variety of opportunities including: feeding residents, assisting residents with games, outings, crafts, Bible study, movies, music therapy, parties and other activities. Volunteers also visit residents on a one-on-one basis and escort residents to beauty shop appointments.

  • Caring Hands is a program in which volunteers give gentle relaxing hand massages to our patients on our medical floor, ICU and Family Birth Center and to our residents in Lake Winona Manor. Hours are flexible and training is provided.
  • Additional service areas may also be available.
