Winona Health's Cardiac Rehabilitation program is geared to patients who have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, angioplasty or heart transplant, or those with stable angina or congestive heart failure. It is designed to improve functional heart capacity, modify cardiac risk factors, reduce stress and educate the patient and family.
The Cardiac Rehab program consists of three phases: |
 |
- Phase 1
Occurs in the patient room and includes range of motion exercises with progressive walking.
- Phase 2
This monitored program covers patients with angina, myocardial infarction (heart attack), angioplasty, cardiac bypass surgery or valve surgery. An individual program is designed to increase each patient's strength and endurance, while decreasing their risk for further cardiac complications. Patients meet three times per week for 6-12 weeks.
- Phase 3
Vital signs are documented at each session of this program, which meets two to three days per week. This ongoing program may include individuals with a variety of diagnoses.
