Winona Health offering health screenings at Ladies Night Out

Winona Health will offer free glucose screening and blood pressure checks at Ladies Night Out, Thursday, November 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Winona Mall.

Ladies Night Out, an event organized by Winona Radio, is free and open to the public. Event attendees also can meet pediatrician Sarah Lallaman, DO; Tara Suffrins, CNP, from the Winona Health Center for Women’s Health; Jill O’Donnell, RN, CDE, and Sue Haug, RD, LD, CDE, Diabetes and Nutrition experts; Kris Barry from Women’s Imaging; Cindy Teske, PT, and Becca Cleland, PTA, from Therapy Services; and Kay Cumiskey, LPN, from the Dermatology Department.

In addition to free screenings, Ladies Night Out attendees also will have an opportunity to receive giveaways and register to win prizes.

Meet Mary Klonecki, CNP, at the Lewiston Clinic open house on November 8.

The Lewiston Clinic at 100 Harrison Street, which reopened Monday, October 24, will host an open house Tuesday, November 8 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Community members are invited to:

• Meet Mary Klonecki, CNP, and say hello to the Lewiston Clinic staff

• Enjoy cookies from Amish Ovens and register for prize drawings

• Get a flu shot (flu shots also are available on a walk-in basis)

“We’re excited that Lewiston Clinic is open again and to invite the community in to celebrate and meet Mary and our Lewiston staff.” said Marti Bollman, administrative leader of Primary Care Clinics at Winona Health. “Families will benefit from Mary’s experience and approach to patient care, and I’m confident that people of all ages will enjoy working with her.”

Mary received her master of science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wis., and her bachelor of science in nursing from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis. Prior to becoming a certified family nurse practitioner, Mary was a registered nurse in a variety of settings for more than 25 years.

Lake Winona Manor welcomes little trick or treaters Thursday, Oct 27 from 6 to 7 p.m.

 

Winona Health Lake Winona Manor will welcome little trick or treaters accompanied by a parent or guardian from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 27.

 

“It’s fun for the kids and our residents enjoy seeing the little kids in their costumes,” said Steve Rach, a certified therapeutic recreation therapist at Lake Winona Manor. “Our residents are part of the Winona community and our goal is to provide enjoyable experiences for them that are similar to what they’ve experienced when they were living in their own homes.”

Winona Community Health Clinic will be open Monday, November 7

The Winona Community Health Clinic will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 7. The clinic is located on the second floor of the Parkview Office Building on the Winona Health campus, 855 Mankato Avenue in Winona. Services are offered free of charge to qualified individuals ages two and up. No appointment is necessary.

The goal of the Winona Community Health Clinic is to provide early prevention screenings and education to help individuals avoid more significant health risks and problems. Services are available to those who are uninsured who do not have the financial means to pay for healthcare services.

The Winona Community Health Clinic, a collaboration between Winona Health, Winona County Public Health and Winona State University, is open one day every three months and is free to qualified individuals ages two and up.

“We’re excited to reopen Lewiston Clinic to provide services to our Lewiston area patients closer to home,” said Marti Bollman, administrative leader of Primary Care Clinics at Winona Health. “Families will find Mary’s experience and approach to patient care to be a welcome addition to the community. Winona Health Therapy Services to host appreciation luncheon

Therapy Services is located at Sarnia Square: 420 Sarnia Street in Winona

Winona Health Therapy Services invites current and past patients to a customer appreciation luncheon, Thursday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Therapy Services Department at Sarnia Square, 420 East Sarnia Street, in Winona.

To thank current and past patients, the Therapy Services staff is hosting a free lunch including hotdogs, chips, dessert and beverages with door prizes, including a certificate for a free massage every month for a year, and other giveaways. Massage therapists also will give free, five minute chair massages.

“Our staff forms bonds with our patients, and we miss them when they recover and no longer need therapy,” said Corrie Searles, director of Therapy Services at Winona Health. “This is a great opportunity for patients and staff to reconnect.”

Winona Health welcomes new community relations and business development coordinator

Janel Miller, Community Relations/Business Development Coordinator

Winona Health welcomes Janel Miller as its new community relations and business development coordinator.

As community relations and business development coordinator, Miller is responsible for identifying, planning and evaluating opportunities for Winona Health to collaborate with area businesses and organizations to provide health and wellness programs; coordinating events and outreach activities; and overseeing Winona Health’s community benefit tracking.

“Janel’s experience in developing, implementing and assessing health and wellness programs along with her knowledge in nutrition, exercise and healthy lifestyle development make her a great fit for this position with the Marketing and Communications team at Winona Health,” said Betsy Midthun, Winona Health chief communications officer. Miller’s experience also includes worksite wellness programming and knowledge of area non-profit organizations.

Miller interned at Winona Health in 2009 while completing her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minn. Her undergraduate degrees include a Bachelor of Athletic Training, a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a minor in Corporate and Community Fitness from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn.

RSVP for Healthy Kids Club 5th Birthday Bash, Sunday, October 30

Winona Health invites kids ages 6 to 11 to RSVP for Healthy Kids Club’s 5th Birthday Bash. The free event will be Sunday, October 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the first floor of the Winona Clinic on the Winona Health main campus at 859 Mankato Avenue in Winona.

Healthy Kids Club launched in October 2007 to provide opportunities for children ages 6 – 11 to have fun, be active and learn the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The Healthy Kids Club 5th Birthday Bash features fun activities for kids ages 6 to 11 accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Activities will include:

• Meet pediatrician Sarah Lallaman, DO, and pediatric physician assistant Kristi Schulte, PA-C, for a teddy bear or stuffed animal clinic—bring a stuffed animal.

Welcome Heather Repinski, CNP, to Family Medicine Department

Heather Repinski, CNP, Family Medicine

Heather Repinski, a certified family nurse practitioner, has joined the healthcare staff at Winona Health and will see patients of all ages in the Family Medicine Department on the second floor of Winona Clinic.

Heather completed her clinical practicum in the Family Medicine Department at Winona Health. She is looking forward to becoming a partner in helping people take care of their health, and she has a special interest in helping patients of all ages who have intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Regarding her choice to join the staff at Winona Health, Heather said, “I was especially impressed with the approach to overall healthcare and the emphasis placed on health promotion in the Family Medicine Department. I’m also amazed at the variety of services available here in Winona and how quickly people can be scheduled for high-tech services such as MRI and CT scans.”

A Fountain City, Wis., native, currently living in Cochrane, Heather received her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Winona State University in Minn. Prior to becoming a family nurse practitioner, Heather was a registered nurse in a variety of settings since 1995. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Nursing Society; American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry; Developmental Disabilities Nursing Association and American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
