Welcome Laura Muyres, PA-C, to hospitalist team

Muyres_webLaura Muyres, a certified physician assistant (PA-C), joined the Winona Health staff and cares for patients as a physician assistant hospitalist.

Hospitalists specialize in caring for patients while they are hospitalized, providing around-the-clock care and working closely with nursing staff and each patient’s primary physician. Hospitalists work with care coordination teams, which include nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff.

“I have family in Winona. My grandmother has lived here for 50 years, and I really enjoy the close-knit feel of this community,” said Muyres. “I’m very excited to begin practicing at Winona Health and growing into my position as a physician assistant on the hospitalist team.”

Muyres (pronounced my-russ) earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She has a special interest in cardiology.

Muyres’ professional healthcare experience includes providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and specialized medical needs at Hiawatha Homes in Rochester, Minn. Her clinical rotations have included Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics and Psychiatry/Behavioral Medicine at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia in addition to Family Medicine at Olmsted Medical Center in Byron, Minnesota.

In her free time, Muyres enjoys playing the trumpet and piano, likes to run and crotchet.
