Lake Winona Manor earned a 5-star rating — the highest possible from Leading Age, an association of community-based, nonprofit organizations dedicated to making America a better place to grow old.
Skilled nursing residences are rigorously reviewed and graded on various metrics around safety, quality of care and service to residents. The 5-star rating system includes every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home nationwide. Ratings are based on three sources of data: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures.
“I’m so proud of our team. The 5-star rating directly reflects on their daily work and sincere care for our residents.” said Molly Jensen, RN, Lake Winona Manor’s director of nursing. “Achieving a 5-star rating is a prime example of how lean management and our continuous system improvement approach, which counts on and respects the expertise of the people closest to the work, ultimately benefits our residents.” Jensen added that the staff had many insightful suggestions for making changes and worked as a team to implement them.
The Leading Age 5-star rating is based on analysis of data from July, August and September 2016, which is predictive of the rating Lake Winona Manor will receive from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which is based on same criteria, but the CMS rating reflects data lagging by 12 to 18 months.
