Winona Health Foundation’s event benefits Patient Care Fund

The Ben & Adith Miller Classic will be Monday, August 14, at Cedar Valley Golf Course.

The annual golf outing, now in its 31st year, is a fundraiser for the Ben & Adith Patient Care Fund, a special fund through the Winona Health Foundation that provides financial assistance to help individuals in need pay for medical care.

A recent Patient Care Fund recipient sent this note to the Foundation: The Patient Care Fund was there for me when I was at my lowest. I’ve been in the hospital and missed work to the point that I couldn’t pay my bills. Just to know that one bill is out of the way, it just made me cry. I am so happy.

“So many people, including many who never anticipated having a serious health issue or needing financial assistance, have been profoundly grateful for this fund,” said Betsy Midthun, vice president of Community Engagement at Winona Health. “The Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund is a prime example of generosity in our community.”

In addition to the 18-hole Main Event, the full day of activities includes a free public golf exhibition, and the Green Monster Challenge, a 9-hole scramble during the afternoon.
