Deborah Hatanpa, MD, has joined the medical staff at Winona Health and sees people of all ages in the Family Medicine department.
“When my family and I were looking for a place in Minnesota to call home, we found Winona,” said Dr. Hatanpa. “I chose Winona Health because when I interviewed here, everyone was welcoming and helpful. From being greeted with a smile at the guest services desk until the time I left–I felt a sincere warmth and friendliness here that translates to how we care for people.”
Dr. Hatanpa earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and completed residency at the Eastern Maine Medical Center Residency Program in Bangor, Maine. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Hatanpa had a career in the business world, which included serving as an insurance company auditor. She has been a Family Medicine physician since 2011.
“I realized I wanted to change course in my career,” said Dr. Hatanpa. “Because I was a runner, I decided to start taking classes in the healthcare field, and I was hooked. I wanted to learn about all aspects of medicine and decided to earn my medical degree.”
Dr. Hatanpa and her husband are new to Winona. They have three school-aged children and are excited about exploring the area and making this their home.
