The Winona Health Foundation invites community members to ‘Benevolence & Blues’ on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Visions Event Center at Signatures, 22852 County Road 17 in Winona.

Benevolence & Blues is an annual event that celebrates stories of generosity in all of its forms. This year will be particularly special as Winona Health is celebrating 125 years of community-focused healthcare and the generosity and community support that has kept local healthcare strong since 1894.

All are welcome at this come-as-you’re-comfortable event to enjoy delicious barbeque, music, and a brief program highlighting stories of generosity:

Celebrating 125 years of generosity

As Winona Health celebrates its 125th anniversary, we reflect on the generosity that has shaped local healthcare. Thanks to our community’s generosity, Winona Health has come a long way since 1894.

The Cuddle Squad

Winona Health Volunteers step in to cuddle and comfort newborns in situations where the baby’s parents are not able to do so.

Winona Health Facilities team

Teamwork is an important aspect of taking care of Winona Health’s physical space. But our Facility team’s work has gone far beyond taking care of brick and mortar. The Facilities team exemplifies Winona Health’s value of service with heart.

Jim Vrchota

Jim wrote and directed the Winona Health Volunteers 2018 variety show, USO Salute to the Troops. From the Volunteers and community members he works with to the audiences who enjoy the performances, Jim’s generosity touches so many lives.

Memory Care

Staff and volunteers enrich the lives of memory care residents at Adith Miller, Roger Metz and Lake Winona manors. Compassionate caregivers, meaningful activities and extra touches, such as the Namaste program, reflect Winona Health’s ongoing dedication to caring for individuals and their families at every stage of life.

Dinner includes BBQ pork ribs, catfish fingers, green beans, sweet potato fingerlings, baked macaroni and cheese, corn muffins, coleslaw, dessert and coffee.

Musical entertainment will be provided by The Burke Band. The Burke Band features vocal harmonies, acoustic guitars, a tin whistle, and a unique drum, as three brothers weave their way through Celtic folk, acoustic rock and their own original songs.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with music and a cash bar. Dinner will be at 6:30 followed by short stories of generosity and more musical entertainment to round out the evening.

Come dressed as you wish — blue jeans, blue cocktail dress, blue tie, blue scrubs or blue suede shoes.

Tickets are $40 per person. RSVP’s accepted through Friday, January 25.

RSVP by sending a check payable to the Winona Health Foundation, 855 Mankato Ave., Winona, MN 55987. Please include the names of those attending. If you have questions, please call 507.457.4394.
