Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk will give a demonstration at Cedar Valley Golf Course, free and open to all ages, Monday, August 5 at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the Golf Classic benefit local individuals and families through the Winona Health Foundation Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund.

The 2019 Ben & Adith Miller Classic will be Monday, August 5, at Cedar Valley Golf Course, 25019 County Road 9 in Winona.

The annual golf outing began in 1990 and is a fundraiser for the Winona Health Foundation’s Ben & Adith Patient Care Fund. The Patient Care Fund was established by Benjamin Miller in 1986, in honor of his wife Adith, as a unique community resource to help people in need pay for medical care at Winona Health. This year, Winona Health is celebrating its 125th year of serving the community.

In addition to an 18-hole Main Event and the 9-hole Green Monster Challenge for registered participants, the Classic features a free golf exhibition by golf pro Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk, at 10 a.m., which is open to all community members.

Vlooswyk is an eight-time Canadian Long Drive Champion, and she has finished as high as second in the world. She currently competes on the Golf Channel’s World Long Drive Association Tour and is the first woman to ever hit a golf ball the length of 3.5 NFL football fields in competition. She holds the Canadian Women’s Long Drive record at 350 yards, 2 feet, 2 inches. She’s also won Golfweek Magazine’s Golf Fest Entertainer of the Year award.

The Main Event begins at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch, followed by a noon shotgun start for the four-person scramble. There will be hole prizes and competition prizes, followed by a reception and exhibition by golf pro Lisa Vlooswyk and an awards banquet at Cedar Valley Restaurant. Participation in the Main Event requires a hole sponsorship, which is $2,500 and includes all of the above for four golfers, plus refreshments on the course, a participation gift and team photo with Vlooswyk.

Green Monster Challenge
The Green Monster Challenge begins at 12:30 p.m. with registration and lunch. After lunch, participants will head out on carts for a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start on Cedar Valley’s Green Monster course. The four-person scramble includes hole prizes and competition prizes.
