Thank you to all who contributed to or participated in our 2023 Holiday Happiness and Fantasy of Trees and more events! (Note: Holiday Happiness is still going on in the Glady D. Miller Gift Shop!) Now is a great time to share how these time-honored annual events, or more accurately, how the people who plan, organize, run and support these events, and others, impact our community and where the funds raised during these events go. Each quarter, the Winona Health Volunteer Board invites Winona Health staff to submit applications for funding of healthcare-related projects. Then, the Board comes together to review, discuss and vote on which requests to fund. The Winona Health Volunteers formed in 1894, the same year as Winona Health. Since then, they have funded projects amounting to more than $2,500,000. Here are just some of the projects our Volunteers have contributed funding to this year:
- Neonatal Phototherapy System to use with a Bili-blanket, improving care for babies showing signs of jaundice (and their parents).
- Chair Pad alarm for enhanced safety for hospitalized patients.
- Electric Scooter available at the clinic entrance for those who need it.
- New furniture to enhance patient comfort and care in our Psychiatric and Counseling services.
- Equipment for our overhead lifts, improving comfort and safety for patients, residents and staff.
All of us at Winona Health are deeply grateful to each and every community member who has volunteered through the years, and to all the community members who have participated in their events – their generosity has supported local care, making an immeasurable difference in our community.
