When it came time to choose where she wanted to have her baby, she talked with others about their experiences and chose Winona Health. She couldn’t have been happier with her decision. From her care in Women’s Health… “The care I received in Women’s Health was outstanding. I was seeing Katie Duerr, CNM, initially and appreciated her professionalism and care. Due to my daughter being in a breech position, my care was transferred to Dr. Shelton. I can say that he is the best OB/GYN doctor I have ever had. I especially appreciated how he clearly laid out the risks and benefits of all the options available to me and helped me make the best and safest decision for the birth of my daughter, Magdalena (Maggie). He even came in on his day off to personally discharge me! I also appreciated that even though my care was transferred to Dr. Shelton, Katie still came to visit me in the hospital to see how Maggie and I were doing. T‌o her experience in the Family Birth Center… The great care extended to my stay at the Family Birth Center. All the nurses were outstanding; they made sure my husband, daughter, and I were well cared for, had what we needed, and ensured all our questions were answered. Another perk was that they made all our follow-up appointments for us, even one for Maggie; it was one less thing we had to worry about. At the previous hospital in Michigan where I gave birth, it was up to us to make all our follow-up appointments. Truly special… What also added to the wonderful experience were “the little things.” We enjoyed the nice surprise of the celebration meal we received. All the food we ordered was delicious. Knowing we also had a four-year-old daughter, the hospital staff waited for her to come visit Maggie so that she could press the button to play Maggie’s special lullaby [Winona Health plays a lullaby on the overhead speaker celebrating a baby’s arrival]. Overall, our experience in the Family Birth Center was wonderful! We could not ask for a better birth experience than the one we received at Winona Health, and would recommend Winona Health to any expecting mom.” – Emma Turner, Winona

Thinking about adding to your family?
