CGCAHPS Overview

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has confirmed the implementation of CGCAHPS beginning January 2013. The CGCAHPS (Clinical and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey is a standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of care provided by a provider in an office setting. CGCAHPS (pronounced “CG-caps”) is a survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients’ perceptions of their clinic experience. CAHPS compares the patient experience of care with clinics locally, regionally and nationally.
