My mom is a nurse and I always admired how she married the science and the art of nursing. I was beyond excited when I was accepted to Winona State’s Nursing program and was on the journey, following in my mom’s footsteps, to become a nurse. After becoming a nurse, I went back to school to further my education, becoming a nurse practitioner with additional education in practice leadership and innovation. As a hospitalist nurse practitioner, I focus solely on caring for people while they are hospitalized, working closely with each patient’s primary physician and our care coordination teams. Our caregivers, including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff collaborate to ensure each person has the care they need. I like being part of a forward-thinking organization that is community based. I’m passionate about palliative care concepts and about education regarding health conditions. Outside the hospital, I enjoy time with my four girls and amazing husband, I like to read, write and run.
