Intensive Behavioral Therapy for Obesity and Medicare
Intensive Behavioral Therapy (IBT) for Obesity is a Medicare benefit for people with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher to receive ongoing support for weight loss. This Medicare benefit allows up to 22 brief (30-minute) visits per year with no copay or deductible with original Medicare (however, Medicare Advantage plans may be subject to a copayment).
Intensive Behavioral Therapy for Weight Loss for Commercial Payers
Some commercial insurances may cover this benefit for individuals with a BMI of 25 or higher, please check with your specific insurer to see if you would be eligible for this benefit.
