Tickets now available for Winona Health Volunteers “USO Salute to the Troops”

Winona Health Volunteer President, Bernadette Thicke, sells American Legion Commander, Sam Sasser, one of the first tickets to “Salute to the Troops.”

Tickets are now available for the Winona Health Volunteers USO Salute to the Troops, a variety show fundraiser that takes audiences back to the days of Bob Hope’s USO variety shows, with singing, dancing and comedy skits.

Tickets are now available at Merchants Bank downtown Winona, Winona HyVee and Midtown Foods, the Winona Health Gift Shop, and Winona Health’s Rushford Clinic at 109 W. Jessie Street in Rushford. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Performance dates are Thursday and Friday, April 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show will be at the Winona Middle School, 1570 Homer Road, Winona, where there is plenty of parking.

General admission is $15 and for Veterans, $10. Proceeds will go toward projects to benefit Winona Health patients and residents.

Casting Call: Winona Health Volunteers to present “USO Salute to the Troops”

The Winona Health Volunteers invite you to be a part of their “USO Salute to the Troops” show. Come to meet the director, Jim Vrchota, and learn about the show at an open casting call on Tuesday, December 5 at the American Legion, 302 Sarnia Street, Winona from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Auditions will be held on December 12 and 13 at the American Legion from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Four performances will be held April 12 through 14.

“USO Salute to the Troops” takes audiences back to the days of Bob Hope’s USO variety shows, with singing, dancing and comedy skits. Actors and singers are needed to play Bob Hope, the Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and a wide variety of roles made famous in USO shows from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The show is a fundraiser for the Winona Health Volunteers, who will use the proceeds for healthcare scholarships and other projects to benefit the patients and residents of Winona Health.
