“The most important thing to me when caring for a patient is meeting them where they’re at,” said Bergemann. “I believe in allowing people to pace their own healing and set the tone for what we’re working on together. Everyone’s journey looks different, and my job is to hold space for that.”

Bergemann has called Winona home for 12 years. She completed her internship with Winona Health’s Psychiatric and Counseling department and has been part of the team for approximately a year, drawn in by the people and the culture she found there.

“During my internship here, I really fell in love with the department and the people,” said Bergemann. “I just knew I wanted to continue to work here. There’s a genuine sense of care in this team that I’m proud to be part of.”

Bergemann enjoys working with people from all backgrounds, helping them navigate trauma and whatever challenges they’re facing in their lives. She is especially passionate about making mental healthcare accessible to those who need it.

“I’ve always had a passion for helping people,” Bergemann noted. “There is a real need for providers who can hold space with empathy and meet patients where they’re at. Accessible healthcare matters — everyone deserves the opportunity to work through what they’re going through.”

Bergemann received her Masters in Social Work at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Outside of work, Bergemann is an avid recreational boxer and has been training for nearly three years.
