Bobbi Jo Jensen, a certified physician assistant, joined the Winona Health staff and cares for patients as a physician assistant hospitalist.
Hospitalists specialize in caring for hospitalized patients, providing around-the-clock care and working closely with nursing staff and each patient’s primary physician. Hospitalists work with care coordination teams, which include nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff.
Jensen, who lives in Lewiston, said “I chose Winona Health so I could be close to home and provide a broader scope of care in a family-oriented organization and community.” She decided on a career in healthcare at a young age, after seeing the difference healthcare providers made in her ailing grandfather’s life. “I know that’s the kind of impact I wanted to make— to be able to care for people who are struggling with a health issue and make a difference in their quality of life.”
Prior to joining Winona Health, Jensen was managing patients as a physician assistant in Mayo Clinic’s Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery in Rochester, Minn. She earned her degree at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks – Physician Assistant Certification and is certified by the .National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
She and her husband, Shawn, have four children. In her free time, she enjoys camping, hiking, boating, fishing and playing volleyball.
