I arrived into the world as a tiny one

August 16, 2019

I arrived into the world as a tiny one! 3 pounds, 12 ounces was a bit small for 1947. The staff at Winona General Hospital took good care of me. I wasn’t premature; my mother had a tumor that prevented me from growing. Six weeks later, weighing 5 pounds, I went to live with my grandparents, Alice and Cliff Einhorn, who lived nearby on Dakota Street. In the spring I was able to move to our family farm near Houston. Thank you, Winona General Hospital, for taking care of me! Of course I don’t remember this, but I certainly heard a lot of stories from my parents and grandparents who shared stories of the challenges in taking care of such a tiny baby. —Mary Alice Anderson, Winona
