Lynsey Laxton, PA-C, joins Winona Health Urgent Care team

Certified Physician Assistant Lynsey Laxton has joined the Winona Health staff at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Ave., in Winona. “I knew I wanted to live in this area, and when I was interviewing, the people at Winona Health were very supportive and welcoming. It’s important to me to be able to make connections with people and help them feel comfortable – my goal is always to explain things so they understand their issue and their treatment plan.” Laxton grew up in Holmen, Wisconsin. “I’ve always been interested in the medical field, and during high school, I became a certified nursing assistant. Being a CNA for four years was an opportunity to learn from the doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and the residents I worked with. Taking care of patients and residents just felt natural to me. I really enjoyed it,” she said. Laxton earned her degree in biology at UW-La Crosse then pursued her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). In her free time, she enjoys reading, taking walks and all the outdoor activities this area offers, especially boating and kayaking. Winona Health Urgent Care hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Urgent Care wait times are updated online during clinic hours.
