My grandmother, Hermine Beseler Critchfield, graduated from nursing school in 1920—100 years ago. She spent her nursing career caring for our community with the Heise Clinic and at the hospital. That makes it especially meaningful to me to be providing care for our community here at Winona Health. I can only imagine what it felt like when she started her nursing career 100 years ago, and I’m sure she could only imagine the technology and innovation that would occur at Winona Health over those 100 years. With all of that, she would be happy it’s still community hospital with a local, hometown feel. Today, 100 years after his grandmother, Hermine Beseler Critchfield, graduated from nursing school and began caring for the Winona community, Andy Seltz, RN, carries on in her footsteps.
