Sarah Eichenberg, PA-C, joined the Winona Health staff in January and will care for people in the Emergency department. Most recently, she has been seeing patients in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A Winona native, Eichenberg said, “I always knew I wanted to return to this area—to come back to the community I grew up in and give something back to Winona. There are so many ways to help people in the Emergency department whether it’s discovering the root of the problem, helping them feel better, performing a procedure or connecting them with the resources they need. Patients need to know they have people on their team.”

Eichenberg earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, graduating with distinction, from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, she earned her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

“I was working in a huge hospital. I’m happy to be at Winona Health because I love how invested Winona Health is in the community. I also feel like I’ll be able to practice to the full scope of my education, training and certification,” said Eichenberg. “Winona Health recognizes and values the skill set Physician Assistants bring and how that benefits community members. I’m excited to be back and to be able to make a difference to people here in Winona.”

Eichenberg and her husband, who is also from Winona, enjoy being outdoors, boating and fishing. She also enjoys cooking, exercising, reading, and traveling.

Eichenberg is a member of the Society for Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants and the Physician Assistant Education Association. In addition to her work at Winona Health, Eichenberg is a clinical assistant professor for the Physician Assistant program at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
