Winona Health has earned a 5-Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating, the highest possible, based on objective data collected at 3,355 Medicare-certified hospitals across the country by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS assigned star ratings to hospitals nationwide based on their performance across five quality categories:
- Mortality
- Safety of Care
- Readmission
- Patient Experience
- Timely & Effective Care
In a message to staff, Winona Health President and CEO Rachelle Schultz, EdD, wrote “As we know, this does not happen by accident but rather attention and intention to give outstanding care and compassion to patients and their families. Nicely done!” This is the first star ratings update since January 2020. This year: •204 hospitals received a one-star rating •690 hospitals received a two-star rating •1,018 hospitals received a three-star rating •988 received a four-star rating •455 received a five-star rating To learn more about healthcare providers and services at Winona Health, visit www.winonahealth.org.
