Mndot Box Culvert 081222 WebThank you for doing your part by driving safely though the work zones. Your efforts help keep workers and other motorists safe. Construction updates Right now, crews are working on the water main and installing a box culvert, or concrete structure for drainage, at Sarnia St. Crews are continuing to work along the west side of Hwy 43/Mankato Ave and will for the next several weeks before switching to the east side. All businesses can be accessed through the work zone. The following work will begin next week:

  • Installing a curb, gutter and sidewalk along the west side of Hwy 43/Mankato Ave.
  • Adding permanent pavement markings on Hwy 61. Please watch out for crews and possible traffic delays.
  • Constructing overhead sign bases along Hwy 43/Mankato Ave.

Safety Motorists may encounter lane closures or lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, equipment and other unexpected obstacles when driving near or through work zones. MnDOT advises motorists to:

  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Go hands-free and minimize other distractions (e.g., don’t eat or drink while driving).
  • Follow posted speed limits; the fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
  • Avoid making lane changes within work zones.
