A familiar face in our community, Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) Bonny Thul is now welcoming new patients as part of our Internal Medicine team. Thul previously provided care for people in the hospital and area nursing homes.
Thul earned a Master of Science in Nursing – Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and completed a post-graduate fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her healthcare experience includes caring for patients at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology where she treated a wide array of gastrointestinal diseases and conditions.
Originally from Cumberland, Wisconsin, Thul first joined Winona Health in 2016. She temporarily left Winona so she and her young sons could be with her husband, a reservist with the USCG, when he received an active assignment at the White House. She noted that she enjoyed working at Winona Health and she and her family wanted to return when his active-duty assignment ended. She returned to Winona Health in 2021.
Thul chose Winona Health because she wanted to serve in a community about the size of Winona where there are more opportunities to get to know the people she’s helping. She said, “I feel like this is a personal, friendly environment—you don’t always find that in bigger healthcare systems.”
