Winona’s first new baby of 2024 didn’t want to wait another day to enter the world. New parents Kylie and Brodie Will thought they’d become a family of three a little closer to Kylie’s due date, which was January 19. They planned to be surprised by finding out whether their little one would be a daughter or a son. As it turns out, they were also surprised to welcome a New Year’s baby! Henry James surprised his parents by arriving at 7:25 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Kylie and Brodie had planned on a home birth, but after two days of labor, it became clear that the Family Birth Center at Winona Health was the place to be. Dr. Shelton was on hand to help Henry into the world via C-section. Brodie always loved the name Henry – which Kylie was lukewarm about at first. Then, going through family history, they learned that Kylie’s January 19 due date would have been her grandparents 72nd wedding anniversary – and they were married by a Father Henry. Kylie thought that felt like a sign, so, Henry it is. Henry’s middle name, James, is shared on both sides of the family and is also Brodie’s middle name. Although a home birth was the plan, Kylie said they’ve received wonderful care in the Family Birth Center, adding “it’s been everything we could want.” In addition to Dr. Shelton, their nurses, Mollie and Lisa, who is also a lactation consultant, have been so helpful. When asked what they were looking forward to in the new year, Brodie smiled and said he was just already wishing he could slow down time. Welcome to parenthood, Brodie and Kylie.
