Students from Sweden learn at Winona Health: Meet Emma!

Emma From Sweden 011224 WebRecently we had two exchange students from Sweden! They shadowed in several areas of the hospital learning from our caregivers. We had the chance to catch up with Emma to get her thoughts about her time here before she heads back home. (She will be missed!) Emma is from Gothenburg Sweden and will be graduating from nursing school in May! Emma was part of Winona State University’s nursing student exchange program. She spent five weeks shadowing here at Winona Health, spending time in the Wound Clinic, Emergency Department, Family Birth Center and even doing a ride-along with Winona Area Ambulance Service. After graduating, she would like to start in an Urgent Care setting being able to learn more about helping people in emergencies. Emma also said after her experience shadowing in our Family Birth Center, she found a passion for labor and delivery or Women’s Health taking care of moms, babies and partners through all stages of pregnancy. In fact, her favorite experience here was witnessing a baby being born (with the family’s permission of course!). Emma’s mom and sister are both nurses, and during her time here, she also connected with a long-lost cousin who lives in Minneapolis – who is also a nurse! Emma said that healthcare is in her blood. “Everything during my time here has been great – really really, nice! Everyone has been so kind and open.” We are thankful to be a part of Emma’s story and are excited to see what the future holds for her after graduation!
