Ben & Adith Miller Classic raises $120,000 for Patient Care Fund

The 2024 Ben & Adith Miller Classic raised $120,000 for the Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund, a charitable fund to provide financial assistance for community members who need medical care.

“We are so grateful to the sponsors, participants and volunteers who supported this fundraiser for the Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund,” said Roderick Baker, Associate Vice President of Development with the Winona Health Foundation. “This fund provides not only financial relief, but also peace of mind, to people when they are dealing with a health issue and need help with medical expenses.”

The Winona Health Foundation event was on Monday, August 12, at Cedar Valley Golf Course in Winona.

The annual golf outing began in 1990 as a fundraiser for the Winona Health Foundation’s Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund. The Patient Care Fund was established in 1986 by Benjamin Miller, a Winona-area businessman and philanthropist, in honor of his wife Adith, as a unique community resource to help people in need pay for medical care at Winona Health.

Through the Hugh and Vera Miller Family and RTP Company’s continued support of Winona Health, the Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund and the Ben and Adith Miller Classic help ensure that everyone in our community has access to excellent healthcare.

“The Miller family carries on Ben and Adith Miller’s legacy of generosity, and that continues to make an immeasurable difference to people here in the Winona area,” said Baker. “We are grateful for their unwavering support.”

The Ben and Adith Miller Classic is one of the primary fundraisers for the Patient Care Fund, and contributions are welcome throughout the year. Last year, the Patient Care Fund helped 364 grateful patients with $564,791 in financial assistance. Since its inception in 1986, the Fund has helped 8,171 people pay more than $15.75 million in medical costs.

The Ben and Adith Miller Patient Care Fund aligns with Winona Health’s vision: To create the most inclusive, compassionate, and self-generating community health movement in the nation.
