Birth control’s OTHER benefits

August 27, 2024

Did you know that birth control is prescribed for so many reasons besides preventing pregnancy?

Many women find starting on birth control helps them with controlling or eliminating issues with acne, minimizing their cramps, and lightening their monthly flow. It can also help with mood fluctuations like PMS (premenstrual syndrome) or PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). An added benefit that many are not aware of is that there are methods of birth control available that will completely eliminate your period.

Being on birth control can also reduce your chances of ovarian and uterine cancers, reduce issues with ovarian cyst development, and minimize the effects of endometriosis.

Birth control is also the first line of treatment for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which affects approximately 1 in 20 people assigned female at birth in our country and is becoming more and more common every day.
