Doctor of Nursing Practitioner Lauren Mermod has joined the caregivers at Winona Health and is now seeing patients in Internal Medicine.
“I want my patients to feel respected and empowered in their healthcare journey,” said Mermod. “Healthcare is becoming more patient-centered, and I believe in shared decision-making. My role is to guide and support them, but I want them to feel in charge of their own health.”
Mermod loves the idea of focusing on one community and making it stronger and healthier. “I get to focus on my community and build long-term relationships with my patients. I love that I might run into them at the grocery store or out on a hike,” she shared.
Mermod earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Viterbo University, La Crosse, Wisconsin. As a Registered Nurse, she is licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Her medical interests include endocrinology, women’s health, and GI disorders. “I spent a lot of time on a hepatobiliary unit, so I gained valuable experience with pancreatic, liver, and stomach cancers,” said Mermod.
Outside of work, Mermod enjoys life with her boyfriend and likes canoeing, biking, antique shopping, and hiking with her dog, Bijou, a little fluffy Papillion.
