Tina McGivern, CNP, joins the Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine teams

Certified Nurse Practitioner Tina McGivern has joined Winona Health and now sees patients of all ages in Urgent Care on the first floor of the clinic and in Emergency Medicine at 855 Mankato Avenue in Winona.

McGivern’s passion for medicine started early. “My interest in emergency medicine started at a very young age. My mom gave me a book about being an ER nurse, and from that point on, I knew that was what I wanted to do,” she said.

After working in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and palliative care, Tina felt a strong pull to return to urgent care and emergency medicine in a community-focused setting. Working in urgent care and emergency medicine allows her to be there for people when they really need someone to lean on. “I chose a career in healthcare because I want to be a source of support for people. I am especially passionate about women’s health, forensic nursing, and supporting individuals who have experienced trauma,” stated McGivern.

When caring for a patient, Tina believes that listening is most important. “First and foremost, I want patients to know that I will take the time to truly listen. Sitting down, hearing their concerns, and working together to find the best solution is central to how I provide care,” stated McGivern.

Tina chose Winona Health for the small-town feel and strong sense of community. “I love Winona! I’m excited to be part of this community and to care for the people who live here,” she said.

McGivern earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. She is certified by the AANP Family Nurse Practitioner Board and ANCC Acute Care Board.

Outside of work, Tina loves to travel and be outdoors. She also enjoys baking, crafting, and spending time with her daughter and partner.
