Maren Flynn, MD, joins Women’s Health OB/GYN team
April 21, 2026
Obstetrician Gynecologist Maren Flynn, MD, has joined the caregivers at Winona Health and is now seeing patients in Women’s Health.
Dr. Flynn provides care for women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum, as well as a wide range of routine gynecological care across every stage of life—including perimenopause and menopause. “So much in women’s health is about what you value,” she said. “I’m really passionate about women getting access to information about their bodies and understanding how their bodies work. I like helping guide those conversations.”
“The most important thing is listening,” said Flynn. “I let patients guide the pace of a conversation and what information they’re willing to share. I spend a lot of time thinking about the language I’m using—what’s medical jargon and what helps patients understand their care. My goal is for every patient to feel comfortable and heard and to be a full partner in their care.”
“I’m interested in perimenopause and menopause, because that has been a largely silent area of women’s health,” Flynn said. “If you were to ask women what a menstrual cycle is, they might talk to you more about sleep and mood, relationships, and their energy levels. We can help people through this transition better when we listen to what women are actually experiencing.”
Dr. Flynn earned her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is board certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Minnesota ACOG Legislative Committee.
After residency, Dr. Flynn served with Doctors Without Borders, completing six-week assignments in South Sudan, Ethiopia and Nigeria. She credits her time working alongside midwives in Uganda—with limited tools and no specialty backup—as the experience that most shaped her obstetric practice.
A native of Arcadia, Wisconsin, Dr. Flynn grew up just across the river from Winona. Her father was the community’s family doctor, and early visits to his emergency room with him sparked her interest in medicine. She was drawn to Winona Health for its independence and community focus. “When I look back at the major decisions I’ve made, I’ve always chosen the smaller, community-based option,” she said.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Flynn is learning to play fiddle and performs with an adult string quartet.
Women’s Health is located on the clinic third floor at Winona Health, 855 Mankato Avenue in Winona.
