Andrew Millis, MD, FAAOS

Joined Winona Health in 2016
My earliest interest in sports and orthopedic medicine was in my early teens when I sustained a knee injury playing football. I had a great experience with an orthopedic surgeon. My interest in medicine grew, and being an orthopedic surgeon seemed like a good combination of that interest and being able to help people. My primary focus is sports medicine and care for athletes of all ages. This includes ACL reconstruction, shoulder pain and rotator cuff repairs. My fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic included a special focus on shoulder injuries and gave me the opportunity to take care of professional athletes with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians. Currently, I am the head team physician for Winona State University as well as several local high schools including Winona Senior, Cotter, Lewiston-Altura and Rushford-Peterson. The most rewarding part of my job is working with athletes and helping them get back to doing what they want to do –whether that’s through surgical or non-surgical treatment. I listen and really learn about each patient’s goals and then provide treatment options to help them meet those goals. I discuss the pros and cons of each option and they are involved in the decision-making process. In my free time, I enjoy biking, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, visiting national parks, traveling and attending sporting events.
