When meeting a new patient, I keep in mind that they know themselves best, so I listen to them and learn what’s important to them. Their perspective on their priorities and needs is valid, and my goal is to help them get to where they want to be. I originally pursued nursing because this field combines my love of science with my love of collaborating with other people. In nursing school, I completed a rotation in psychiatry, and I realized that was my true calling. I was drawn to mental health roles throughout my nursing career and have witnessed the need for mental health providers in my community. I feel lucky to be joining a community healthcare organization where I feel like I can make a positive impact.
