Internal Medicine physician, Jake Thomas, MD, has joined the Winona Health medical staff and serves as a hospitalist.
Hospitalists are physicians who focus on caring for patients while they are hospitalized instead of serving as a primary care provider in a clinic setting. They work closely with each patient’s primary physician along with care coordination teams including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff.
Dr. Thomas said he was drawn to the area after visiting friends in Winona. “This is a beautiful part of the country and people are friendly here. I was also impressed with Winona Health and the staff’s focus on quality and continuous improvement,” said Dr. Thomas.
Dr. Thomas earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his residency at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester. He is a member of the American college of Physicians.
