From Nebraska to Winona Health: A step in the right direction

After living in Nebraska all her life, certified nursing assistant Mikhala Lenzen took a leap and decided to move to the Winona area. When a couple of physicians at the hospital where she was working in Nebraska heard where she was moving, they told her to apply at Winona Health, “You’ll love it.” She couldn’t believe they had even heard of Winona. “I was so surprised they knew about a healthcare organization in Winona, and it was great to hear what they had to say about Winona Health,” says Mikhala. “Some of them had done rotations here and knew many of the Winona Health physicians and staff,” “It was such a relief to hear I’d have a great option for continuing my healthcare career!” Mikhala added that after arriving in the Stockton area (joining her fiancé) she knew she had options for her job search, but she kept hearing things from people like, “Oh, you’ll want to get in at Winona Health. You should apply there first. Great place to work…they know what they’re doing…it’s also where you’ll want to go for healthcare.” Mikhala says, “Now that I’ve been here a while, I know people were right. Winona Health is by far the best place I’ve ever worked. The leaders are actually here working with us and involved, and I can tell they care about me. Everyone is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I love it here. I go home feeling good every day, and I’m excited about coming back the next. I know I made the right decision.”
