The Winona Community Warming Center provides emergency shelter to adults experiencing homelessness. Our seasonal volunteers help make serving our community possible through two different volunteer opportunities every day from November 1 to April 1.

Shelter Volunteers

Shelter volunteers must be 18+ years old. Contact aruiz@ccsomn.org for more information. Intake Shift (8:30-11 p.m.) Volunteers arrive half an hour before the shelter opens and help staff make beds, prepare food, and put away donation or laundry deliveries. From 9-10 p.m., there is an option to help serve meals or help guests check-in and get settled. From 10 to 11 p.m., volunteers perform cleaning tasks after meal time and engage with guests and staff in the lounge. Exit Shift (5-7:30 a.m.) This volunteer shift arrives in the morning to help staff serve breakfast and check out guests. After check-out, volunteers are able to help staff clean sleeping areas, bathrooms, the lounge, wash dishes, or restock/organize donations so that the shelter is ready for the next night.

Meal Donations

Volunteers of all ages are invited to sign up to prepare and deliver a meal to the shelter. This opportunity is great for families, service projects, and those who are unable to volunteer during a shelter shift. Sign up online for meal donations. More information about the shelter can be found on our website: Winona Community Warming Center.
