In our community, care has always been about taking care of one another—being there for each other in the moments that matter. Neighbors helping neighbors in ways both big and small.
That spirit is alive every day through our volunteers.
During National Volunteer Month, we take time to recognize those who give their time and talents to support others. But the truth is, their impact isn’t limited to a single month. It’s felt in every hallway, every interaction, every moment of connection.
If you’ve ever walked through our doors, chances are you’ve experienced it.
A friendly face greeting you. A steady hand helping you find your way. A conversation that makes the day feel a little lighter.
These moments matter—and they’re often made possible by volunteers.
People choose to volunteer for many different reasons. Some want to give back. Others are looking to stay active and looking for ways to stay connected and engaged. Many simply feel called to help others in a meaningful way.
What they often find is something more.
They find friendships. They find purpose. They find a deeper connection to the people around them.
And along the way, they help shape the experiences of our patients, residents and caregivers.
Volunteering offers the opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself—to share your time and talents in a way that truly matters. It’s a chance to meet people from all walks of life, learn new skills or build on existing ones, and gain experiences that can open doors personally and professionally.
But more than anything, it’s about being there for someone else.
That sense of connection is part of who we are. It’s what makes every moment matter—for our patients, our residents, and for each other.
Our volunteers live that out every day. They remind us that healthcare isn’t only about treatments and technology—it’s about compassion, presence, and human connection.
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this might be your moment.
Whether you have a few hours a week or simply a desire to make a difference, there is a place for you here.
Because when you give your time, you give something incredibly meaningful.
You give comfort. You give connection. You give care.
And in return, you may find you receive just as much as you give.
The Winona Health Volunteers are always looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals willing to share their valuable time and talent. More than 200 active volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service to Winona Health through Winona Health and senior services.
