I felt the calling to become a nurse midwife after the birth of my third child, when my nurse midwife had me reach down and deliver him myself. Bringing a child into the world is a life-changingly beautiful moment. The experience opened my eyes to all of the people who are needed to make that moment happen. I was very grateful for the care of my own midwife, and from that moment on I began to pursue my dream of being able to help other families to tell their own beautiful birth stories. As a midwife, my passion lies in helping women through all stages of pre-conception, conception, prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum care, but I also love being able to provide my knowledge and care to women in all stages of life for their best overall health. My philosophy of care has always centered around listening first. Everyone’s health journey is unique and I want to make sure that I fully understand what my patients are feeling and experiencing so that I can offer the best advice and care for them. Each individual knows their body and their experiences best, and it is always my goal to make sure they feel heard and respected. Whenever I find spare time, I like to spend it working in my yard and garden, which seems like a full-time job itself! I also enjoy crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, and unwinding with some reality TV. None of those things, though, are ever as important to me as being there for the people I help take care of.
