Fall Event – Kick Off

Healthy Kids Club – Healthy Olympics took place at the Winona Middle School on Saturday, October 10. Healthy Olympics featured activities related to physical, emotional, family, safety and nutrition. Children ages 6-11 who attended this free event collected the five Olympic rings as they completed activities related to each topic of health. There were new activities such as hermit crab races, parachute games, giant twister and gladiator joust. Winona Health is grateful for the use of space at the Winona Middle School and for all community partners that participated.

Winter Event – Healthy Kids Club University

More than 200 children and adults participated in this event which took place on Saturday, January 23 at the Winona Middle School. While kids attended two fun workshops of their choice, adults had the opportunity to hear speakers discuss topics on Cyberbullying and Healthy Parenting. Healthy Kids Club thanks the Winona School District for the use of space and the following organizations for offering workshops to children and adults during this event: University of Minnesota Extension, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Winona District, Winona Senior High School Boys’ Basketball Team, Winona Family YMCA, Officer Kevin Kearney and Parent Educator Katy Smith.

Spring Event – Step into Summer Family Fun Walk

Step into Summer is a casual and non-competitive walk with some fun along the way for children 6-11 and their family members. Walkers start at the bike path near Lake Winona Manor, walk to the Jaycee Pavilion for a healthy snack, then walk back to the Winona Health campus. (Total walking distance is almost 2 miles). For all children who register and finish, the event ends with tickets to use for inflatables located on the Winona Health campus. Project Get Outdoors, the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have provided fun, hands-on outdoor activities where kids can practice fishing, sit in a canoe and tent, and use binoculars.
