Heidi Thompson-Stangler, CNP, joined the Winona Health staff and will care for patients as a nurse practitioner hospitalist.

Hospitalists specialize in caring for patients while they are hospitalized, providing around-the-clock care and working closely with nursing staff and each patient’s primary physician. Hospitalists work with care coordination teams made up of nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, respiratory and physical therapists, social workers and other specialty care staff.

Heidi Thompson-Stangler, certified nurse practitioner (CNP), received her Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner, from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wis., and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cum Laude, from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

“I like everything about patient care,” said Thompson-Stangler. “It’s especially rewarding to form a partnership with my patients and to see their health improve.”

Stangler was born in Maidstone, England, and spent her childhood in Kenya, Africa. She moved to the United States as a teenager. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family. She has one grandchild and another on the way.
