Welcome Joseph Koo, DO

Joseph Koo, DO, has joined the Winona Health medical staff and cares for patients in the Emergency Department.

Dr. Koo noted that he heard about Winona Health through John Gallagher, MD, Winona Health Emergency Department physician and medical director for Winona Area Ambulance Service. “John encouraged me to check out Winona Health and I was impressed,” said Dr. Koo. “Overall, my wife and I were drawn to Winona by the excellent job opportunity, caring hospital administration, small town community feel, intriguing geography, a safe place for our children, outdoor activities, and convenient location to interstates, airports, and cities. It felt like the best of all worlds wrapped into one place.

Dr. Koo received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va., and completed the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association.

Among Dr. Koo’s personal interests are “learning to become a father,” family time, ballroom dancing, football, golf and travel, including personal and medical mission trips. He and his wife, Susan have two sons; Reuben, age 2 and Graham, age 9 months.
