Get all the updates on the MnDOT project website: Updates – Hwy 43 reconstruction – MnDOT Here are a few highlights: Watch for traffic changes this coming Wednesday evening (Sept. 7) on Hwy 43/Mankato Ave. – Traffic will be moved to the new pavement on the west side of the road (the Winona Health side), so crews can begin building the other half of the road and roundabouts. – You will travel in single-lane traffic in each direction through half of the roundabout at Frontenac Dr and Riverbend Rd before you are directed back to the east side of the road at Bruski Dr/Parks Ave South. – Temporary traffic signals will continue to be used. Starting Wednesday night, motorists will not be able to make left turns when driving on Hwy 43/Mankato Ave. – If you are going southbound and you want to go east onto Bruski, Riverbend, and Frontenac, you will have to go south to the Hwy 61/43 roundabout and come back north and turn right onto your desired street. – If you are going northbound and you want to go west onto S. Parks, Riverbend, and N. Parks, you will have to take a right turn at one of the intersections going east, go around the block, and travel west straight across Mankato Ave. This will likely last through October. Watch for traffic backups near Sarnia Street as crews continue to install the large culvert (a concrete structure for drainage) at Lake Winona. There will be some traffic changes near Sarnia Street as the work continues, so be alert for changes. Slow down and follow the new route marked on the pavement.
