Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Jessica Peterson has joined the anesthesia team at Winona Health. “People who need anesthesia during surgery or for pain prevention or relief are under some level of stress, and it’s important to acknowledge that,” says Jessica. “I focus on my patient’s specific needs, and I hope they sense that I have a kind heart and that their well-being is my entire focus.” Jessica is certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. She earned her Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia degree through the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, Minnesota. Her experience includes caring for people as a registered nurse in Mayo Clinic’s Cardiovascular Surgery/Health Transplant Intensive Care Unit. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing with honors from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. “Becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist seemed like a natural progression. I like taking really good care of people and, in my new role, I’ll be able to focus on one person and be with them in the moment, caring for them when they may be feeling scared,” said Jessica. “I remind myself that a normal work day for me is an experience that’s unique to my patient.” Jessica and her husband, who is also a CRNA, moved from Rochester to Winona about six years ago. He will join Winona Health this summer, and they are expecting first child in June. Jessica enjoys reading and outdoor activities including gardening, hiking and fishing. Jessica added, “I am excited to join Winona Health and to begin caring for people in the community I call home.”
