Thank you to midwife Katie Duerr and the group of healthcare professionals who helped bring this baby into the world. The family is from outside the U.S. and speaks very little English. Katie has been giving mom prenatal care since they arrived in Winona. As someone who has worked with the family, working through the language barriers and cultural differences is challenging! It was obvious that mom was very comfortable with Katie and trusted her! Katie was patient, understanding, and navigated the language and cultural differences well. (Katie noted: It was amazing how much we communicated simply with our eyes!) The caregivers who helped during her labor and delivery were also very kind and encouraging!
